
Haywood Early College will begin classes in August 2006 as a collaborative
effort of Haywood County Schools and Haywood Community College.

The entering class will consist of a maximum of 72
ninth grade students who will take both high school and college courses (see
First Year Courses).

Located on the HCC campus, Haywood Early College is an
accelerated, academically rigorous, technologically-focused educational
program in high technology, communications, and the arts, enabling high
school students to earn a high school diploma and complete the college
credit needed to earn an associate degree by the end of their thirteenth
year. The task of this accelerated program is the preparation students for
the high-earnings jobs of the 21st century by offering career exploration,
global and entrepreneurial skills, team building, communications
activities and work-based experiential experiences.
